About the HPV test for men
What is HPV for men?
HPV is a virus that can be contacted through sexual intercourse, and it can be manifest at the genital
level but also around your anus. People who have contact with persons that have the virus cannot be fully protected
if they use a condom. That’s because the area that the condom protects is limited and if the warts are to be found
in areas that will eventually come in contact with the healthy person’s skin, that person will eventually contact
the disease. HPV test is recommended for diagnosing this disease.
Are there any HPV tests for me?
The answer to this question for now, is “no”, there are not any kind of tests for men to detect this
disease. However, luckily for them, there are other ways you can check yourself of such a condition. The best way
is to go to your doctor from whom you will get a visual inspection and then let in on the diagnosis. You might have
a doctor, who will also use, aside of visual inspection, a vinegar solution for the detection of flat warts, but
this is not a specific test for warts. What this actually means is that this test can fail, and it will identify a
normal skin as a wart.
Are there any tests to point out the relation between the HPV virus and cancers in
men?
At the current time there really aren’t any tests to make a possible correlation between these two.
However, these diseases often appear in gay, HIV positive men and bisexuals. That is why doctors all over the world
recommend a periodic Pap test to have things clear about one’s health and make sure that nothing is going the wrong
way. The Pap test is useful because its purpose is to find the abnormal cells caused by the HPV virus in the anus
which, in time could develop into cancerous cells. However, even though such cells were to be found and removed,
this would not completely guarantee that the person whom has taken this test will be 100% safe from contacting
cancer or not. That is why the CDC has no recommendations for anal cancer screening.
Treatments to cure the HPV virus
In today’s world and age, even though medicine has advanced to such levels, there is currently no way to
permanently treat the HPV virus. However, good news is that there are ways to deal with the health
conditions that the HPV virus causes in men and those
include anal cancer, penile cancer and also genital warts.
Thus after a visual inspection the doctor can recommend the patient either to use a surgical method of
removal or another method, which is kind of new, the freezing of the warts. The best thing is that some of these
methods can also be applied by the patient while others need to have a specialized doctor performing them.
However, in the end there is no certainty to these treatments and in a short period of time, warts can
come back.
